A small Cambridge team.
No shortcuts.
We started Cams Hedges and Edges to do one thing well: look after Cambridge gardens properly. Same crew every visit, fair prices written down before we start, and the kind of finish that doesn't need explaining.
The shortest version
[OWNER NAME] founded Cams Hedges and Edges in 2026 after [X years] working for [previous landscape company / horticultural training]. The brand name is shorthand for the work that gets overlooked: the hedges and the edges. Most Cambridge gardeners do hedges or design or tree work — never all three with the same team. We do all of it.
What we believe
The detail is the design
A clean edge between lawn and border does more for a Cambridge garden than another expensive shrub. A hedge cut properly looks designed even when nothing else has been touched. We pay attention to the things that get noticed quietly — the kind that change how the whole garden reads.
Right time, not just any time
Cambridge hedges should mostly be cut in late summer, not whenever the diary has a gap. Yew in late August; beech a fortnight earlier; laurel autumn. We schedule by species, not by what the round needs that week. Slower, but the plants are healthier.
No glyphosate by default
We control weeds by improving the lawn — feed, overseed, raise the cut height. Glyphosate gets used as a last resort, never near edible planting or watercourses, and only with the client's explicit consent. Most jobs don't need it.
One quote, one team
The same small crew that surveys your garden is the crew that cuts the hedge or builds the terrace. No subcontractor handoff. No estimates that drift when the second team turns up.
Plain talk on price
Every job over £150 gets a written quote with itemised pricing — labour, materials, waste, access kit. The hourly rate is on it. If we change anything we tell you before the work happens, not on the invoice after.

Why Cambridge
Cambridge has a particular kind of garden. Old stone walls and college boundaries; new builds in Trumpington and Cambourne; village cottages in Grantchester and Madingley. Heavy chalky clay that drains slowly. Conservation areas everywhere you turn. A community that cares about its trees. We grew up around these gardens and we know how to work in them — careful where the heritage demands it, modern where the brief asks for it.
